The longest journey starts with the first step — and I’m finally taking it! My initial reasons for beginning this blog were:

1. Follow and expand upon my interests and goals
2. Provide some background on things I’ve done or experienced that are important to me
3. Develop my writing and chronicling skills

Since I’ve waited so long to begin, #1 and #2 have been affected and mutated by many things, including my first long-haul (trans-Pacific) cruise, crashing cranes, and global pandemics. #3 has occurred in my mind only, although participating in different forums (fori?) and broadening my reading habits have contributed (I hope).

On to my second step — explaining the basis for my blog’s name. Here’s a hint:
